The Western Child Health Network is one of three Child Health Networks established in 2001 to facilitate the development of clinical networking of paediatric services with the aim of to ensure all children are provided with high quality clinical care as close to home as possible, wherever possible. Each of the Networks is a partnership of Area Health Services and a Children's Hospital. NSW Health funds the Child Health Networks and also provides enhancement funding on a biennial basis for new projects.
The Western Child Health Network:
- Comprises Sydney West Area Health Service; Sydney South West Area Health Service; Northern Sydney Central Coast Area Health Service, Greater Western Area Health Service and the Children's Hospital at Westmead.
- Covers a area of 400,000 sq kms from Wyong on the east coast to Broken Hill and the South Australian/Queensland/Victoria borders
- Includes a population of 550,000 children aged 15 yrs and under
- Includes over 60 public hospitals, 100 community health centres and a11 Divisions of General Practice
NSW Child Health Network Conference
The inaugural NSW Child Health Network Conference will be held on 2nd to 4th September 2008 at the Novotel Brighton in Sydney.
